Suggestions for Planting Your Seeds from Steadfast Farm Products

Sweet Corn

Directions: Plant in full sun after chance of last frost. For larger ears, thin rows to one plant every foot, after seeds have sprouted and established.

Directions: Plant in full sun after chance of last frost. Squash are ready to harvest when the outside is hard and resistant to puncture. Water well.

Directions: Plant in full sun once soil can maintain a temperature of at least 40̊F. When plants are 2 to 3" tall, thin them so that plants are 12 to 20" apart.

Directions: Plant in full sun once soil has reached 45̊F. Can tolerate frost. For improved germination, soak peas overnight in water before planting.

Directions: Plant in full sun 2-3 weeks after chance of last frost. Planting when soil is very warm is recommended, and starting indoors if you live in a colder climate is best. Like melons, planting in mounds is recommended. For larger more flavorful pumpkins thin the number of fruit per vine to 1-2.

Directions: Plant in full sun 1-2 weeks after last frost, even better is to plant indoors and transplant. Warm soil is needed for germination, the warmer the better. The seedlings are typically planted on mounds (three to a mound) spaced 2 feet apart in rows 6 feet apart. Thin the fruit to a couple melons per vine to increase sweetness and nutrition.
